Minister Caines Pays Tribute To Justice Georges

The Minister of National Security and Acting Attorney General Wayne Caines extended condolences following the passing of His Lordship, Justice Ephraim Georges, who died on March 15, 2018.

From 1984 to 1988, Justice Georges served as a Magistrate in Bermuda, and in 1987, for a period of three months, he served as an acting Supreme Court Justice.

Justice Georges’ career spanned several decades; most notably, he served as the High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court [ECSC].

Minister Caines said today, “On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, I wish to extend my sincerest and deepest condolences on the passing of Justice Ephraim Georges. He was a much admired figure throughout the Commonwealth and Caribbean legal fraternity.

“During his time in Bermuda, serving as Magistrate and Acting Supreme Court Justice, he always sought to ensure that the rule of law was applied fairly.

“Bermuda joins the Commonwealth in remembering Justice Georges as a distinguished jurist and judge who dedicated his life to noble service. He was respected and admired both locally and abroad and he will be greatly missed.

“Bermuda sends its thoughts and prayers to Justice Georges’ family and friends during their time of grief.”
