“Under 40s In Philanthropy” Event Held

April 12, 2018

On February 1, Danielle Riviere, Interim Executive Director, and Samantha Nearon, Training and Education Coordinator from The Centre on Philanthropy, hosted an event titled “Under 40s in Philanthropy – Nonprofit Leaders of Tomorrow.”

A spokesperson said, “This event was the spark that started the journey in discovering the next generation of nonprofit leaders, volunteers and staff members in Bermuda.”

Danielle Riviere, Interim Executive Director of The Centre on Philanthropy, said, “The nonprofit sector, like so many other sectors around the world, is facing a huge transition as the baby-boomer generation is beginning to retire. With this in mind, we wanted to engage the next generation of potential leaders and were excited to find so many young people eager to learn more about the role they can play in the nonprofit sector.”

“There was no better opportunity to start this journey than allowing individuals who are driven and ready to make a difference in their community to get together and create opportunities to become nonprofit leaders.”

Samantha Nearon said, “Creating this Under 40s in Philanthropy group is a humbling experience to be apart of! It is an opportunity for us to really make a positive impact in our community.”

“The Under 40s in Philanthropy group is hosting their first event, Network for Good: Charity Match, on Friday, April 27th from 5:30pm – 7pm at O’Hare House, XL Catlin Reception.

“The purpose of this event is to provide charities in Bermuda the opportunity to network with the next generation of leaders. A few weeks ago, the Under 40s planning group surveyed The Centre on Philanthropy nonprofit members. The survey asked a series of questions. Ranging to how the charities would benefit from support in volunteering, staff and board engagement.

“It is vital to build relationships and trust with leaders in the sector. Our event is the starting point in developing those relationships.”

Another event, titled “Network for Good: Charity Match” is set to be held on Friday, April 27 from 5.30pm to 7.00pm at O’Hare House, XL Catlin Reception. Attendees must RSVP to snearon@centreonphilanthropy.org or call 236-7706.
