Car Collides With Pedestrian Crossing Light Pole

Police attended a collision on South Road in Paget early this morning [May 23] where it appears a car “struck a pedestrian crossing light pole” according to police.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 1:55am Wednesday, May 23rd police officers attended a reported single vehicle car crash on South Road in Paget.

“It appears that the driver of the car involved struck a pedestrian crossing light pole in the vicinity of St. Paul’s Lane.

“The driver, believed to be a 33-year-old Paget man, apparently left the scene prior to police arrival and at this time it is unclear if he sustained any injuries.

“Works & Engineering personnel attended the scene to assess the downed pedestrian crossing light pole and the damaged vehicle was later towed away.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
