The Sao Miguel players, somewhat drained from a travel route which saw the team fly from the Azores, to Boston where they remained overnight before traveling to Bermuda this Sunday. The players joined the West Ham United FC youngsters who arrived here on Saturday.

The Bermuda International Football Festival begins this evening [May 7] with the opening game of a double header pitting the Bermuda Under-20 team against the players of West Ham.

Terry Westley, development Director and coach of the Under-19 hammers, told media representatives that they had included a rather young group of players to give them much needed experience. The squad includes a number of youngsters who have already been included in the England youth teams at various divisions.

In the second game of the double header the Bermuda League Select team will play the Sao Miguel Under 20 team. The Bermuda team will include a few over age players who have performed well for their club teams in the just concluded league season.

Head coach Scott Morton, and assistant Randy Spence, have elected to include some new faces to give a greater number of players the opportunity to gain the experience of a tournament of this nature, and to stake a claim for a place in future Bermuda National teams.

The public is reminded to purchase their tickets on Ptix, or at the gate prior to kick-off at 6:30pm this Monday night. General Admission is $20 while children eleven years of age and under eleven will be admitted free.
