Court: Man Fined For Failing To Stop After Crash

June 26, 2018

An impaired motorist has been fined an additional $650 for lying to police and failing to stop after an accident.

Larreau Grant had previously been banned from driving for 18 months and fined $1200 after admitting drink-driving.

This morning at Magistrates’ Court, Grant was fined an additional $500 for making a false report and $150 for failing to stop after an accident, in the connection with the same incident.

The court had previously heard that the accident occurred on January 19, this year close to the junction of Middle Road and High Point Lane in Southampton.

Grant did not stop after the accident, which left the other motorcyclist with minor injuries, and later told police that the car had been stolen.

This morning he told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that he would pay the additional fines immediately.
