Court: USA Seeks Bermudian Man’s Extradition

June 21, 2018

A Bermudian man has appeared in court after US authorities issued extradition proceedings.

Paul Martin, 62, was remanded in custody yesterday in connection with a vehicle incident that occurred in December 2005 in New York state.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Mr Martin had previously pleaded guilty to vehicular assault in the second degree, however he left the United States.

The prosecutor did not detail any facts in relation to the incident, but said that the US authorities had been looking for him.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo outlined the reasons for the extradition proceedings to Mr Martin, who confirmed that he understood.

Magistrate Tokunbo ruled that the matter would be adjourned for a week and that Mr Martin would be remanded in the meantime.
