Police Confirm Death Of Female Visitor

The police have confirmed that a female tourist has died after she “fell into difficulty in the water” in the Hawkins Island area earlier today [June 28].

A police spokesperson said, “Marine Police responded to a report of an incident that took place in the waters off of Hawkins Island today at 11:09am.

“It appears that a female tourist was swimming when she fell into difficulty in the water and had to be taken out by onlookers.

“She was then conveyed by a police boat, to Barrs Park, where she was met by the ambulance and subsequently conveyed the woman to KEMH where she was later pronounced dead.

“No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.”
