Court: Driver Fined & Banned For 12 Months

July 17, 2018

A motorcyclist has been banned from the roads for a year after failing to provide police officers with a sample of breath when she was stopped.

Samantha Hill was initially seen by police officers looking “unsteady on her feet” as she walked along Front Street in the early hours of June 18.

Police followed the 31-year-old after she got on her motorbike for a short distance and pulled her over after she nearly collided with a wall and veered into the wrong lane.

Hill of Devonshire admitted to police officers that she had been drinking but refused to provide a breath sample.

She added: “l just live right there and can drive home.”

She was detained by officers and appeared at plea court where she admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo imposed a 12-month disqualification and also an $800 fine.
