‘Pink Links Fore The Cure’ Raises $12,500

October 29, 2018

Blue skies, green links and a lot of pink were the colors of the day during the first annual “Pink Links Fore the Cure” Charity Golf Tournament held Saturday [Oct 27] at Belmont Hills Golf Club.

Hosted by Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa — in partnership with the LPGA-AGA Bermuda Chapter — the tournament raised $12,500 for the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

“We could not have been more thrilled with the turnout and success of our first charity golf tournament,” said Karen Doyle, owner of Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa.

“This was a collaboration between so many – from our event partner, the LPGA-AGA Bermuda Chapter to our main sponsors: Gosling’s [Gold], Pompano Beach Club [Silver] and Elbow Beach Bermuda, One Communications, Island Construction and the Bermuda Industrial Union [Bronze] to our staff at Belmont Hills Golf Club who worked tirelessly to pull off what we hope will become an even bigger event next year.”

The festivities began on Friday evening with a cocktail reception for participants and sponsors at Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort & Spa’s pool deck and continued on Saturday morning at Belmont Hills Golf Club with a continental breakfast at Divots followed by an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. The day concluded with a reception, tournament prizes and cheque donation ceremony.

“We are so thankful for the generous donation raised from the “Pink Links Fore the Cure” Golf Tournament,” said Deborah Titterton-Narraway, chief marketing officer of Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

“We rely heavily on donations to ensure that our community has equal access to our services and that we fulfill our mission of providing the highest standard of care when it comes to early detection, prevention and education programs for the residents of Bermuda. This money will go a long way in aiding our efforts.”

The tournament was a win-win for everyone, including those teams that literally took first, second and third place, including: First Place – Lowes Trucking [Duane Lowe, Ricoh James, Allan Heatherley and Richard Basden]; Second Place – One Communications [Tony Than, Wayne Williams, Gina Newson and Rob Edwards]; Third Place – Fire Station [Delton White, Mark Ray, Jordon Lamb and Colin Swan].

The first, second and third place prizes, respectively, for each team member was a one-night stay at Newstead with a bottle of champagne; $150 gift certificate to the Newstead Spa and a round of golf at Belmont Hills.
