Video: Today Show Highlights Triangle, Dr Rouja

October 16, 2018

NBC’s Today Show featured a segment on the Bermuda Triangle, with the crew visiting the island and speaking with Bermuda’s Dr. Phillipe Rouja, who joked that the purported supernatural element of the Triangle is “the oldest fake news story in the world.”

The video’s description says, “The Bermuda Triangle, stretching some 500,000 square miles from Bermuda to Florida to Puerto Rico, and its tales of sunken ships and downed planes have long been a source of fascination. So are supernatural sources at play, or can science explain it all? NBC’s Kerry Sanders investigates for TODAY.”

Closing out the segment, when asked whether she thought the supernatural stories about the Bermuda Triangle were fact or fiction, one of the NBC hosts replying by joking that, “I’d like to go to Bermuda and find out,” while another suggested a “long fact finding trip” was needed.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority worked alongside the Today Show to assist with the segment, which follows after the top rated television programme broadcast their morning show from Bermuda last year.

Don’t want to be rude to mate but I am /was a fisherman …and you are from where?
You perport to know something you do not and have no practical knowledge of…you cannot be an expert in the unknown by virtue of this statement alone…it is unknown…

Time folds in areas in certain electrical electromagnetic circumstances…of this I surmise my surity…opinion but …I have seen what you only I’m imagine…and with your limited resources…..I must reitterate…

if you think about the time line when the story stared with Cuba and the USA. Black ops teams would leave the East coast to run missions to Cuba. Their families would never be told the truth what happen to them. Two many military planes and ships had been destroyed in these covert operations. Ask yourself who perfected proper gander. it does make for good marketing and put us on the radar.

Who cares that it is fake news? Tourists, especially US tourists are fascinated by anything Bermuda Triangle. Roswell NM thrives on aliens. Bermuda does nothing to promote the Bermuda Triangle. I SURVIVED THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE T shirts & souvenirs should be available everywhere. They are not.

I wouldn’t say Bermuda does nothing to promote the triangle… this Today show segment didn’t happen by accident for a start! And the new Bermuda Triangle Experience at BUEI is excellent. But I agree that more could be made of it!

Kevin, I spent 18 years catering too what I considered to be the cream of the tourism crop, i.e. the people who stayed in our most expensive accommodation & did the most expensive activities. Guaranteed one of the first questions they would ask of me early in the trip would be about the Bermuda Triangle.

The Platinum Period drove my business out of existence with the closure of so many of the high end accommodations however even the low budget visitor likes the Bermuda Triangle thing.

Since I have your attention, is the BTA doing anything to promote Bermuda for the Boat Parade? A great event when few visitors are usually here & another chance to get people here that has been blown away over the years.
