Team Building Via Cooking At Bermuda College

November 5, 2018

Bermuda College recently welcomed approximately two dozen staff from the Argus Group to participate in an off-site “Chopped Cooking” team building exercise.

The event was coordinated by Senior Hospitality Lecturer, Shawn Deshields, and facilitated by Senior Chef Lecturer, Teneika Eve along with a culinary student to help lead the corporate group to gastronomical team-building success.

Chef Eve is renowned for her culinary skills both in and outside of the classroom. She also brings a passion to teaching that engages even the most reluctant of students.

The “Chopped Cooking” venture is viewed as the perfect way for businesses and agencies to learn in a different environment, interact with colleagues on a different level, have fun, and discover new team building skill sets in the process.

Mr. Deshields coordinated the event last year and was delighted when the company signed on for another year.

Vice President of Finance & Operations, Dwight Furbert also applauded the joint venture, and invited other organisations to follow suit.

“Bermuda College is pleased to serve as host for such a unique and positive initiative,” he stated. “We welcomed members of the Argus Group’s European Finance office to our campus, and would encourage local companies to consider doing something similar for their employees.

“As a community college, we consider such partnerships to be a part of our mandate to provide life-long learning opportunities to the community at every level.”
