Basketball: David Patrick’s UCR Fall To Air Force

December 31, 2018

Bermudian coach David Patrick’s University of California Riverside [UCR] Men’s Basketball Team, despite strong scoring efforts in the second half, fell short on the road to hosts Air Force 72 – 60 in the school’s latest action on the court.

The Air Force offense kept them afloat throughout the game as UCR struggled to slow an efficient Falcon attack.

Coach Patrick believed that an indifferent start to the contest by his squad contributed greatly to their inability to overcome their opponents.

“We didn’t set the tone from the start,” said Patrick, the son of Bermudian Icen Patrick. “There were so many things we didn’t do to begin the game that it gave them confidence, and you can’t expect to win on the road if you don’t set the tone in terms of toughness.

“We had too many lapses and didn’t execute the defensive game plan.”

Patrick turned to coaching after a stellar college and professional playing career that took included stints in the United States, Europe and down under in Australia.
