Magma Song Included In Reggae Compilation

December 18, 2018

A song by Bermudian singer Magma, titled ‘Diamonds,’ is included on reggae compilation ‘Ultimate 2018′, an effort compiled by independent label Tads Records.

Loop Jamaica reported, “Reggae artiste Magma is pleased that his cover single, ‘Diamonds’ has been added to ‘Ultimate 2018′, a compilation of the best reggae and dancehall songs for the year compiled by independent powerhouse label, Tads Records.

“It is a great feeling to know that your hard work is being recognised. The Diamonds song is one I always loved; trust me, it’s a song I grow up on … I listen to it every time my father played it on vinyl at home in my youthful days. So when I came to Jamaica, I ‘bingified’ the song to give it a more Rastafarian feel,” he said.

“Magma is featured on the compilation alongside artistes such as Richie Spice, Alkaline, Macka Diamond, Vybz Kartel and Shaggy.

“The ‘Diamonds’ song is a ‘bingified’ drum-heavy cover of Paul Simon’s ‘Diamonds On The Soles of Her Shoes’ from Simon’s acclaimed 1986 album, ‘Graceland’, which won three Grammy Awards in 1987, including Album Of The Year. He co-produced the single with Kevon Brown and Donovan Joseph for his Moltenrock Productions.”

“I am just putting in a lot of work so that momentum can carry me through to 2019 as I am looking to take on more shows in Europe and the Caribbean,” he said.

Adam Mayo, the artist formerly known as Mango Seed, adopted the stage name Magma when he took up residence in Jamaica in 2008 and was signed by the reggae label Down Sound.
