Video: Somersfield Librarians Spread Cheer

December 18, 2018

Two librarians at Somersfield Academy are spreading some holiday cheer, with Julia Pitt and Frances McCallum joining forces to create a holiday lip sync song cover.

A spokesperson said, “Frances is an outstanding parent volunteer at the school. She is always willing to help out with PTA events, pizza lunches, photo days and in-class projects. When the school was in need of a Librarian, Frances offered to help out in the interim.”

“Julia Pitt works directly with the IB Middle Years Programme, providing an Improv course as an alternative track to learning and building new skills.”

Ms. Pitt said, “Improv is a surprising medium as it provides students with life skills that you wouldn’t explore or find in the curriculum.”

“These ladies are encouraging students through this fun video to return any books to the library and to join in on some holiday fun. In connection to the schools commitment to diversity this year students at Somersfield Academy presented two holiday concerts on Global Holiday Celebrations and Celebrations Across the Continents.

“Each year the classroom teachers select a country for the students to study and the holiday concerts reflected a variety of faiths, and major religious celebrations. Countries represented included Denmark, Ukraine, Nigeria, Japan, Bulgaria, Romania, Finland, Uganda and China.”
