Motorcyclist Treated & Discharged After Collision

A 49-year-old man has been treated and discharged from the hospital following a collision in Sandys yesterday evening [Jan 23].

A police spokesperson said, “Around 7pm Wednesday, January 23rd police and fellow first responders were dispatched to a reported two vehicle collision at the junction of Somerset Road and Beacon Hill Road in Sandys parish.

“It appears that a motorcyclist was traveling along Somerset Road and a car driver was attempting to exit Beacon Hill Road when the collision occurred.

“The injured rider, said to be a 49-year-old St. George’s man, was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and later discharged.

“There were no other injuries reported. However, both vehicles involved were damaged.

“Any witnesses are asked to contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

    Definition of speed ; It is the relationshhip between distance and time.

    eg : Driving at 20 miles per hour, or 293.33 feet per second.

    20 miles = 105,600 feet
    One hour =360 seconds

    Devide 105,660 by 360 = you would be driving at 293.33 feet per second.

    293.33 multiply by THREE seconds = 880

    If it takes TWO seconds to REACT to a situation and ONE second to ACT, you would travel 880 feet.
    Ask your self can you stop in less time and distance. More in the rain.
