The Salvation Army has extended their thanks to the community for “giving and assisting in so many ways” saying that “together, we have made a difference in the lives of over 3,000 people during Christmas.”

Major Sandra Stokes said, “The assistance that The Salvation Army provides at Christmas and throughout the year is a direct reflection of God’s blessings and the generosity of the people of Bermuda to give to others.

“The Salvation Army in Bermuda would like to sincerely thank you, the people, for giving and assisting in so many ways; from school students, families, churches, businesses, community organizations, and the International Corporate donors. Together, we have made a difference in the lives of over 3,000 people during Christmas.

“The Salvation Army also wishes to thank the host of volunteers that gave of themselves in so many ways to assist us in our ministry to the unfortunate, forgotten, marginalized, and misfortune of our community.

“Our volunteers came from a cross-section of the community with a number of students actively involved wanting to make a difference in the lives of others. To show our appreciation, we would like for you to join us at 76 Roberts Ave, on Febuary 14th from 1-6pm, for an Open House. It would be our honor to thank you in person and to hear about your volunteer experiences.

“While at the distribution center just before Christmas, a grandmother said to me that she started the year with one grandchild living with her, and now her other two grands are living with her now. She said to me, ‘never thought that I would be in this place. I was able to take care of one grand OK, but now with the other two, thank God you’re here’[The Salvation Army].

“This year, The Salvation Army was not able to meet our financial goal of $500,000. However, we look forward in prayer and anticipation for a sustained blessing as we continue to fulfill our mission. Thank you again for your support!”
