BFA: ‘Postponed This Match Until Further Notice’

February 13, 2019

Following the decision by the BFA Appeal Committee, St. David’s informed the BFA “that they will not participate in any rescheduling of the match”, and as a result the BFA have “postponed this match until further notice.”

A BFA spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association advises that further to the Appeal Committee decision regarding the appeal submitted by the Southampton Rangers against the decision of the BFA’s Competitions Committee reference their FA Cup match versus St. David’s on January 19th whereby the Appeal Committee ruled that:

  • The fine of $150.00 imposed on Southampton Rangers shall remain;
  • Southampton Rangers Coach and offending player must serve the one match suspension;
  • The decision that Southampton Rangers must forfeit the match is overturned and that the match must be replayed.

“As a result of the Appeal Committee decision, the Competitions Committee rescheduled the match replay to take place on Wednesday, February 13th to ensure the outcome is determined prior to the next round of the FA Cup which is scheduled for this upcoming weekend.

“However, the Association wishes to advise that the decision by the Appeal Committee causes concern and therefore is exploring options to address this concern.

“Additionally, St. David’s Cricket Club has informed the Association that they will not participate in any rescheduling of the match and are exploring options to address the Committee’s ruling.

“As a result, the BFA’s Competitions Committee has postponed this match until further notice. In order not to jeopardize the FA Cup Competitions all remaining matches will proceed as schedule.

“There will be no further comments on this matter at this time,” the BFA added.

    This is outright CRAP!! Where else in the world would the F.A. allow this CRAP to go on? BFA needs to grow a pair and stop folding to these so called “big” teams.

    Good on you St. David’s,

    The precedence for this is set, you field an illegal player you forfeit the match. If a player is not on the Team sheet when required that player is playing against the rules or illegally.

    P.H.C. did this against Somerset many Years ago in the FA Semi Final. Match forfeited. The rules are clear, there are no grounds for appeal for fielding an illegal player.
