Police Car & Motorcycle Collision In St David’s

[Updated] Emergency services responded to a collision that took place on St David’s Road this morning [Feb 13] involving a motorcycle and a police car. Further details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.

Update 12.08pm: A police spokesperson said, “Around 7:45am today [February 13th] a two vehicle collision occurred on St. David’s Road in St. George’s – involving a police car and a motorcycle – in the vicinity of Southside Police Station.

“Police, fire and ambulance personnel responded to the incident. Initial information indicates that a pregnant woman was riding the motorcycle with a young girl as pillion passenger at the time of the collision, and that both were transported to hospital via ambulance for injuries that are not believed to be serious.

“An update on the female motorcyclist and her pillion passenger is anticipated in due course. The female police officer driving the police car was not hurt.

“The scene has been processed and inquiries continue regarding the circumstances of this collision.

“Witnesses are encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011 at the earliest opportunity.”

Update 4.52pm: A police spokesperson said, “At last check this afternoon, the female motorcyclist – believed to be a 34-year-old St. George’s woman – injured in a collision with a police car on St. David’s Road, St. George’s around 7:45 this morning and her pillion passenger – now said to be a 7-year old-boy and not a girl as initially stated – had both been treated and discharged from hospital.

“Inquiries continue regarding the circumstances of this collision and any witnesses are still encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

    This is not a good junction and at that time of day the sun would have been in the car driver’s eyes. I cannot for the life of me understand why use is not made of more mini-roundabouts with speed bumps at junctions like this.
    I do hope everyone is OK.

    Very rare to see a police car having ventured out of that station car park. Every time I drive passed they are all parked up!? Glad all involved are ok. It is not a great junction, but sun in eyes is not an excuse. You can only manoeuvre at a junction when you know the path is clear, dangerous to just wing it.

    Thiis is why all repeat all emergency vehicle should have Dash Cameras to assist in any investigation or to record any road incident
