Two Men Arrested Remain In Police Custody

[Updated] Two of the men arrested following Saturday’s early morning incident at Southampton Rangers remain in police custody – while the other individuals arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail.

This follows after an incident in which six people were injured and at least six people were arrested, and as a result, the police used their authority to order Southampton Rangers to close down for 24 hours – from 10pm on Saturday [Feb 2] until 10pm on Sunday [Feb 3].

The Southampton Rangers management said they “strongly condemn the anti-social behavior that marred the clubs grounds,” and noted that the individuals involved in the incident are being informed, via registered letters, that they are not welcome on the property.

A police spokesperson said, “The investigation regarding the anti-social incident at Southampton Rangers Sports Club continues.

“Currently two of the men arrested [24 and 32 years old respectively] following Saturday’s early morning anti-social incident remain in police custody – while three other men [21, 25 and 30 years old respectively] arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

“A 23-year-old man admitted to hospital for further medical assessment was later discharged. He was also arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently released on police bail pending further inquiries.

“In addition, a 27-year-old woman arrested after the incident early Saturday remains on police bail.

“Detectives renew their appeal for any witnesses or members of the public with relevant information regarding the anti-social incident that occurred at Southampton Rangers Sports Club around 3am Saturday to contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”

Update 11.57am: A police spokesperson said, “The remaining two men [24 and 32 years old respectively] arrested following Saturday’s early morning anti-social incident at Southampton Rangers Sports Club have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

“The investigation continues and any witnesses or members of the public that were at the premises around 3am Saturday, February 2nd are still encouraged to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”
