Swimming: Daley Wins Medals, Breaks Records

Elijah Daley recently competed in the 2019 Spring Ontario Youth-Junior Championships, winning two medals and breaking three Bermuda Boy’s 11-12 age group records.

The Championships took place at the Markham Pan Am Long Course Pool.

Daley won the 200m Butterfly Silver Medal when he was clocked at 2:26.05, shattering his own record time of 2:40.40 set back on May 14, 2017 during the NYAC Performance Meet in Canada.

Daley captured the 100m Butterfly Bronze Medal when he touched the wall in a time of 1:05.55, breaking Jesse Washington’s record time of 1:06.32 he set on April 16, 2012 during the XXVII Carifta Swimming Championships in Nassau, Bahamas.

Daley also competed in the 100m Backstroke Final, finishing seventh with a time of 1:09.48, breaking Nicolas Brando’s time of 1:11.07 set on June 8, 2014 during the Validus Bermuda National Championships at the National Sports Center.

During the preliminaries, Daley finished 31st in the 50m Freestyle clocking a time of 28.97 and 30th in the 100m Freestyle, touching the wall in a time of 1:03.28.

Daley finished 25th in the 200m Freestyle, clocking a time of 2:17.35, concluding by finishing 21st in the 200m Individual Medley, clocking 2:35.80.
