Where To Watch The World Triathlon Bermuda

April 23, 2019

MS Amlin World Triathlon is this Saturday, April 27th, and have you decided where to watch all the action yet? If not, here are some suggestions for seeing all the Elite race action on Saturday afternoon and more than 500 Age Group, non-professional athletes as they race around Hamilton on Saturday morning, including Bermuda’s Flora Duffy.

BELCO Family Fun Zone

Is there any tougher part of the race course than the bike climb up Corkscrew Hill? Whether age group or elite athlete, it’s the place where hopes and dreams will be made, or dashed.

Bouncy castles, DJ Chubb, food and refreshments including Ashley’s lemonade, face painting, Bermy Bouncers, the World Triathlon Instagram Board and some of the best triathlon action around and a large screen TV to follow the rest of the race, the BELCO Family Fun Zone has it all, starting at 12 noon in time for the Elite races.

The Belco Family Fun Zone also has the added benefit of free, easy parking at the Arboretum and easy access via Tee Street, Frog Lane and Montpellier Road.

Flora Duffy might not be in the elite race, but she will enter a team in the age group competition and will still treat Bermuda to the thrills of witnessing her brilliance on a 20km bike leg. Witness Duffy tackle the notorious climb up Corkscrew Hill from the BELCO Family Fun Zone. The race is short and Duffy’s team is fast, so the window to cheer on Duffy and Team TriBermuda is from 8.15am – 9am this Saturday.

Tri-Club Viewing Deck – Comfort & Style

Tickets are still available for the Tri-Club Viewing Deck, a hospitality area on the balcony of Pier 6 for people who wish to enjoy the race in comfort and style where you can meet and chat with Bermuda’s world champion Flora Duffy when she makes a guest appearance between races.

A grandstand finish

There is no better feeling than breaking the tape and there is public seating available so spectators can witness this special moment first hand.

The free viewing stand also looks out over No 1 car park, where elite athletes transition during the race.

An international occasion

Athletes and spectators from all over the world will come to Bermuda for the race, and a special International Fan Zone has been set up honouring the 30+ countries competing in the MS Amlin World Triathlon.

Located outside the Cabinet Grounds on Front Street, there will be an audio feed to follow the commentary of the Elite Races in the afternoon.

Supporters from USA, Canada, Netherlands, Denmark, Austria, Japan, Australia and New Zealand will be flying the flag to support their athletes. France, Portugal and Spain are also represented. Locals are encouraged to join one of the nations at the International Fan Zone in warm Bermudian style.

Local Restaurants & Bars

If you fancy something closer to the centre of things, you can make a reservation at one of the many Front Street restaurants that have terraces overlooking the venue, where you can sit and watch the races while enjoying breakfast or lunch. Other good vantage points are the corner of Reid Street and Burnaby Street, and along Reid Street to Queen Street provides great viewing of the Elite bike and run.

Organisers are encouraging the public to plan ahead by checking the tribermuda.com website for information on road closures and parking, to ensure a safe and enjoyable day for all.

The MS Amlin World Triathlon Bermuda 2019 is the second of three annual World Series Triathlon events that Bermuda will host; in 2021 the island will be home to the ITU Grand Final and Age Group World Championships.
