BOA Announce Athletes Qualified For Pan Am

The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] released the names of the Bermuda athletes who have qualified for and are eligible to be ratified to represent Bermuda at the upcoming Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru.

  • Tyrone Smith [Long Jump]

Bowling

  • Gloria Dill
  • Earlene Tucker
  • Damien Matthews
  • David Maycock

Cycling

  • Caitlin Conyers [Road Cycling]

Rowing

  • Michelle Pearson [Women’s Single Sculls]

Sailing

  • Cecilia Wollmann [Nacra 17]
  • Michael Wollmann [Nacra 17]
  • Malcolm Smith [Laser]

Squash

  • Noah Browne
  • Micah Franklin
  • Nicholas Kyme

Triathlon

  • Flora Duffy
  • Erica Hawley
  • Tyler Smith

“The qualifying period for athletics is still open until 26 June,” the BOA noted, adding that “athletes who have qualified to represent Bermuda in swimming will be confirmed on 14 June.”

The Pan American Games are the world’s third largest international sporting festival, and will run from 26 July to 11 August, and will host 7,000 athletes from 41 nations competing in over 400 events across 39 sports.

Bermuda has competed in all Pan Am Summer Games since 1967, taking home a total of 9 medals. The Bermuda Pan Am Team will be officially ratified by the Executive Board of the BOA at the end of June, and Branwen Smith-King will be Bermuda’s Chef de Mission at the Games.

Judy Simons, BOA President, said “We congratulate all of Bermuda’s athletes who have met the qualifying standards for their respective sports.

“They are talented, committed athletes who have trained hard for the right to represent Bermuda at the Pan Am Games in July, and we are proud of each and every one of them. The BOA looks forward to officially confirming the team next month.”
