Photos: Bermuda Footballers Defeat Guyana

June 6, 2019

[Updated with more photos] Bermuda defeated Guyana by a score of 1-0 this evening [June 6], with Donte Brangman scoring the game winning goal for Bermuda.

Playing in front of a crowd of over 1,300 fans at the National Sports Center, Bermuda’s starting line-up included Dale Eve, Calon Minors, Jaylon Bather, Lejaun Simmons, Donte Brangman, Osagi Bascome, Kacy Milan Butterfield, Dante Leverock, Justin Donawa, Reggie Lambe and Nahki Wells.

Bermuda took a 1-0 lead into the half time break thanks to a goal from Donte Brangman who thrilled the fans when he scored to give Bermuda the 1-0 lead, and with neither team scoring for the remainder of the match, Bermuda claimed the victory in a game that marks their final warm-up match before the Concacaf Gold Cup gets underway.

Both Guyana and Bermuda are making their Gold Cup debuts, and while Guyana is comparatively smaller than most the other nations in the Gold Cup, they are much larger than Bermuda, with a population over ten times higher, with some 770,000 people.

Bermuda is, by far, the smallest country to qualify for the prestigious regional competition, and the island will play Haiti on June 16th in Costa Rica, then play Costa Rica on June 20th in Dallas, and then match up against Nicaragua on June 24th in New Jersey.

We will have additional photos later on, and in the meantime some images from before the match started are below.
