Auditor General Elected To Executive Council

Auditor General Heather Thomas has been elected to the Executive Council of the Caribbean Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions [CAROSAI].

A spokesperson said, “The Caribbean Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions is one of seven regional grouping of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions [INTOSAI]. INTOSAI operates as an autonomous, independent and non-political umbrella organization for the Supreme Audit Institutions [SAI].

“On June 26, 2019, CAROSAI’s Second General Plenary convened in Guyana to elect from amongst its twenty-three member countries, the new Executive Council. Ms. Thomas was elected to the Executive Council and will serve a three-year term.”

“She is Bermuda’s third Auditor General appointed in 2016, an advocate of good governance, transparency and accountability, she has a focus on doing the right thing for the right reason the first time around – to make a difference in the lives of the citizens of Bermuda’ .

“She said that in keeping with the INTOSAI’s motto, Experientia Mutua Omnibus Prodest – mutual experience benefits all – the continued sharing of experiences and cooperation amongst the CAROSAI’s members would aid in the strengthening all SAIs – thus ensuring no one SAI is left behind.

“The newly elected members of the Executive Council 2019 – 2022 include Frederick Nuboer, Heather Thomas, and Deodat Sharma – Chairman, Sandra Malcolm and Terrance Bastian – Ex Officio.”
