BPSU: Certification Of New Bargaining Units

The Bermuda Public Services Union [BPSU] is now recognised as the sole bargaining agent for the non-management employees of the Bermuda Airport Authority, the Pension Commission, and Teen Services/Teen Haven.

BPSU President Jason Hayward said, “The Bermuda Public Services Union [BPSU] is pleased to announce that under section 30K[1]a. of the Trade Union Act 1965, it is now recognised as the sole bargaining agent for the non-management employees of following entities:

  • Bermuda Airport Authority
  • The Pension Commission
  • Teen Services / Teen Haven

“With the addition of these recent certifications, BPSU now proudly represents has twenty-nine [29] bargaining units. These bargaining units span both the public and private sector and includes a diverse cross-section of industries throughout Bermuda’s economy.

“For over 65 years, BPSU has been providing workers’ representation by safeguarding and improving conditions of service and ensuring that employee rights are vehemently protected.

“Additionally, the Union embraces collaboration with its multiple stakeholders throughout Bermuda for the betterment of both its members as well as the wider community, and actively networks to instill dignity in the workplace and to secure social and economic equity in Bermuda.

“The Union applauds the workers for taking the initiative to secure representation in their respective workplaces and warmly welcomes them to the BPSU family. The BPSU looks forward to collectively forging a partnership with management for the mutual benefit of the workers.”

    Government Senator Jason Hayward has successfully negotiated recognition of the BPSU with 3 Government entities, the Bermuda Airport Authority, the Pension Commission, and Teen Services/Teen Haven. Well done Senator Hayward!

      So a member of the government manages to get three positions of power by bargaining with other members of the same government.
      Yeah, sounds about as legit as everything else going on around here.
