Island Games Squash Team Wins Bronze

Bermuda’s medal count went up by one as the NatWest International Island Games continued in Gibraltar, with the mixed squash team of Rachel Barnes and Anthony Fellowes capturing the bronze medal.

Athletics

Quincy Kuzyk finished 10th in heat two of the Men’s 1,500m race, crossing the line in a time of 4:29.78.

Brianna Mendes finished fourth while competing in the Women’s 5,000m when she was clocked at 18:54.66.

With a time of 16:11.34, Sean Trott finished eighth in the Men’s 5,000m race.

Sailing

In the team event, Bermuda is currently in third place with 169 points.

After seven races in Laser Radial Rig Fleet racing, Adriana Penruddocke is fifth with 31 points, having finished in the top 10 in six of the seven races sailed; Jordan Etemadi is 15th with 78 points.

In the Laser Standard Rig Fleet, Kalin Hillier is in fifth place with 30 points, with five to 10 finishes of the seven races sailed, while Scott Mello is in 12th with 72 points.

Squash

During the Mixed Doubles match-up, Barnes and Fellowes defeated Stuart Copland and Joan Smith from the Shetland Islands in the bronze medal match 15-13, 9-15, 15-14.

Ten Pin Bowling

After three rounds of the Men’s Team Event, Bermuda sits in second place with 2468 pins; Bermuda is currently third in the Women’s Team Event with 2029 pins.

Tennis

Gavin Manders advanced to the Men’s Singles Semi-Final after he defeated David Riera-Pons from Menorca in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, while Sam Butler fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-1 to Oscar Mesquida-Berg from Mennorca.

In Men’s Doubles quarter-final action, Manders and David Thomas defeated Riera-Pons and Miguel Alberti-Fuster from Menorca 6-0, 6-4.

James Finnigan and Scott Redmond went down in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 to Stuart Parker and Michael Watkins from Jersey.
