Pacers Members To Compete In North Carolina

This weekend the Bermuda Pacers Track Club will compete overseas at the 2019 Russell E. Blunt Eastcoast Invitational Track Meet, marking the club’s 38th appearance at the meet.

Twenty-five members of the club will compete at Durham Memorial Stadium, in North Carolina. This meet attracts over 1000 athletes from the United State, Canada and the Caribbean.

Carifta and distance runners Johndell Cumberbatch, Ryan Outerbridge, and sprinter Mikal Dill  will compete in the 17-18 Boy’s Division. Cumberbatch will compete in the 800m, 1500 and 3000 meters. Outerbridge will compete in the 1500 and 3000 meters while Dill will compete in the 100 meter and Long Jump.

In the 15-16 Girls and Boy’s Division, there will be four other Carifta athletes; Sanaa Rae Morris, Jezhari Talbot, Sancho Smith, Kahzi Sealey and High and Long Jump specialist Miniya Wainwright making up this very strong team.

Sealey will compete in 1500m and 30000 meters, Smith will compete in the 400, 800 1500 and High Jump. Morris will compete in the 200 and 400 meters, while Talbot will compete in the 400 meter, 800 meters and 1500 meters.

In the 13-14 Boys and Girl’s Division, the club will be represented by J’auza James, Denver Tucker and Breynia Darrell. The Boys will represent the club in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 800 meters, 1500 meters, High Jump, Long Jump respectively, while first timer Breynia Darrell will compete in the 13-14 Girls Shot Put and Discus events.

In the 11-12 Boys and Girls Age Group, the club will have Daylen Scott, Arima Turner, Ellise Dickinson, Jaeda Grant and J’Naz Richards. All five of these young athletes have won medals at this event before.

Scott will compete in the 100, 200 and Long Jump. Dickinson will compete in the 400, 800, and High Jump, Grant will compete in the 800, 1500 and 3000 meters. Turner and Richards will compete in the 100, 200 and Long Jump.

In the 9 and 10 Boys Division, the club will have Kruz Iris compete in the 100, 200 and Long Jump. In the 9-10 Girl’s Division, the club will have a LaShee Jones, Shaniyah Smith- Daniels, Day’asha Dill and Pria Wilson compete in the 100, 200 and Long Jump, while middle distance runners Azari Jones and Amaris Munya will compete in the 400, 800 and 1500 meters respectively. This same group of young girls will also compete in the 4 X 400 meter Relay.

The youngest members of the team are Zakhyn Scott and Riana Robinson, both will compete in the 8 & Under Girl’s Division. Scott will compete in the 100, 200 and 400 meters, while Robinson will compete in the 400 and 800 meters respectively.

Nine members of the club will be making their first appearance at the Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational Track. In total, the athletes will compete in 67 individual events and one 4 X 400 meter relay events.
