The police have confirmed the death of 68-year-old Kathleen Emam, who became unresponsive while on a jet ski tour in the west end.

A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 68-year-old Kathleen Emam, who was visiting Bermuda with her husband onboard the cruise ship Norwegian Escape and extends sincere condolences to Mr. Emam, their family and friends.

“Mrs. Emam, from New York U.S.A. was initially said to be 62-years-old.

“Around 2:10pm Thursday, August 22nd Mrs. Emam was on a Jet Ski operated by her 75-year-old husband, who is also from New York, when she fell off the back of the Jet Ski and became unresponsive during a tour in the waters off Daniel’s Head, Sandys parish.

“Despite lifesaving efforts as she was transported by boat to Mangrove Bay public dock, which were then continued by Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service personnel at the dock and ambulance personnel as she was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Mrs. Emam was later pronounced dead.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to assist the deceased’s family at this difficult time.
