Bermuda To Host Plein Air Festival
Artists from around the world are being invited to set up their easels in Bermuda at the island’s upcoming plein air festival.
Organised the Plein Air Painters of Bermuda, the weeklong festival pays homage to the spirit of the French Impressionists whose paintings were based on the belief that “you should trust your eyes” to capture the beauty that surrounds you.
Being held this year between October 26 and November 2, the biannual event was inaugurated in 2015.
“As with the old masters, contemporary plein air artists paint from life in the out-of-doors — or ‘en plein air’ — capturing moments in time that reflect the ever-changing colours, light and shadows, temperature and shifting elements,” said a spokesperson for the Plein Art Painters. “There is no setting more perfect than Bermuda — it is truly an artist’s paradise!”
The Plein Air Painters of Bermuda fall under the umbrella of the Bermuda Arts Centre at Dockyard.
