WEDCO Storing Boats In Advance Of Hurricane

September 16, 2019

“As a precaution, boats are being evacuated from the Marina and stored on land so people need to take care on the roads at Dockyard,” WEDCO’s Business Development Manager Joanna Cranfield said.

Ms. Cranfield said, “We are closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Humberto, which is currently due to be a Category Two storm when at its closest point to Bermuda.

“As a precaution, boats are being evacuated from the Marina and stored on land so people need to take care on the roads at Dockyard.

“As part of our standard hurricane preparation plan, boats are stored on the South Basin, the North Rock car park and in between the buildings on Smithery Lane. Due to this, these areas will be closed to the public.

“Clocktower Parade, in front of the Clocktower Mall, will be temporarily reopened to facilitate traffic flow. We would like to thank the public in advance for their cooperation and patience.

“WEDCO staff are also checking the buildings and grounds at Dockyard, and making the necessary precautionary action.

“No decision has yet been made about any closures but we will update as soon as we know more about the hurricane and its path. Updates will be posted on our website as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages.”
