A 19-year-old Sandys parish man has been arrested following a pursuit after failing to stop his motorcycle for police.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 8:10am on Wednesday, October 2, police officers on mobile patrol in a marked police car in the area of Church Street and King Street in the City of Hamilton observed a motorcyclist commit a traffic offence.

“The motorcyclist, said to be a 19-year-old Sandys parish man, was signaled to stop along Trimingham Road in Paget – but apparently he failed to do so.

“A pursuit ensued along South Road, Middle Road and Ord Road in Paget, ending along the Railway Trail where the teen was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

“The 19-year-old male rider was issued several tickets and appeared in Magistrates’ Court later Wednesday regarding a number of outstanding warrants before being transferred to Westgate Correctional Facility.

“The police car involved in the pursuit was damaged after striking a metal barrier on the Railway Trail.

“The two officers in the vehicle at the time were not hurt. The scene was processed and inquiries continue regarding the circumstances of the crash.”
