Video: Estonian Media Highlights Roger Lee

October 1, 2019

Getting there isn’t always half the fun when you’re travelling to Bermuda from Estonia, local footballer Roger Lee jokes in a new interview.

And getting back to that Baltic country can be even more challenging depending on where his Bermuda national squad obligations take him for a game.

The 28-year-old Bermuda international has been playing for Estonia’s top league JK Tallinna Kalev team since 2018.

You can see the full interview with Mr. Lee below [while the host speaks in Estonian, the footballer's segments are all in English].

Speaking to Soccernet.ee, the biggest football portal in Estonia, the footballer says while “It’s always a privilege and an honour to play for your country” the the travel logistics involved are sometimes complicated.

“It’s actually very difficult for them to find ways for me to get home,” he says “Going there I always go through the UK: it’s just the easiest. I go to Helsinki first and then to the UK and then to Bermuda.

“Coming back [depending on where Bermuda has played], I’ve been through Copenhagen, I’ve been through Sweden … airports I never thought I’d been going through.”

Very enjoyable interview with Roger Lee, and what a pleasure to hear my native tongue from the commentator! I’m always interested in the Bermudian sportsmen who join an Estonian team.
