Ball Hockey: Lumberjacks & Red Army Win
A recent Bermuda Ball Hockey League double header at the PCC Hockey Rink saw 17 goals scored as the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Red Army recorded wins.
Muskegon Lumberjacks 5 – Quad City Mallards 4
In the opener, the Muskegon Lumberjacks defeated Quad City Mallards in a shootout.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks took a 3 – 0 lead in the first period with single strikes from Brandon Willett, Jeremy Estey and Craig Macneil.
Anthony Kapsimalis and Jeff Morash both scored a goal in the second period to pull the Quad City Mallards within one.
Willett scored his second goal of the game to put the Muskegon Lumberjacks up 4 – 2, but Kyle Hankins and Kapsimalis scored a goal each to level the match at 4 – 4.
In the shootout, Estey got the all-important goal to earn the Muskegon Lumberjacks the win.
Allen Americans 3 – Red Army 5
The Red Army defeated the Allen Americans 5 – 3 in the nightcap.
Both teams scored a goal in the first period as Christopher Merritt scored for Red Army and John Duda scored for the Allen Americans.
At the end of the second period, the score was 2 – 2; Merritt scored his second for the Red Army, while Craig Rowat scored for the Allen Americans.
The Red Army outscored the Allen Americans 3 – 1 in the third period to win the match 5 – 3. The Red Army got goals from Ben Wilshaw, Wayne Newhook and Hart Freedman, while Jeffrey Ingelman scored the lone goal of the period for the Allen Americans.
