Multiple People Injured In Separate Collisions

The police said that inquiries continue regarding two separate collisions which both resulted in people being transported to the hospital for treatment.

Inquiries Continue After Motorcycle Crash Leaves Two Males Injured

A police spokesperson said, “Inquiries continue regarding a reported single vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred around 1:15am Wednesday, November 13th on Somerset Road in Sandys parish near the junction with Morgan Hill.

“Police, Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service and ambulance personnel were dispatched to the scene. The two males involved – said to be a 17-year-old from St. George’s [thought to be the rider] and a 26-year-old from Sandys parish [thought to be the pillion passenger] – were traveling west along Somerset Road when the motorcycle they were on struck a wall at the bottom of Scaur Hill.

“Both were thrown over the wall on impact and fell several feet to the shoreline below, but somehow each managed to climb back up to the road despite being injured.

“The 17-year-old and 26-year-old were transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. The younger male is believed to have sustained leg and back injuries while the older male is believed to have sustained potentially serious back and neck injuries.

“At last check later this morning both remained in hospital receiving medical care.

“Traffic flow in the area was temporarily reduced to one lane while the scene was processed.

“Any witnesses that have not already come forward are now encouraged to call Constable John Outerbridge on the main police telephone number 295-0011.

18-Year-Old Male Motorcyclist Hurt After Collision With Car in Warwick

“Witnesses are still being sought regarding a two vehicle collision that occurred around 9pm Tuesday, November 12th involving a motorcycle and a car at the junction of Middle Road and Khyber Pass in Warwick.

“Apparently the car driver, said to be a 76-year-old Southampton man, was traveling east along Middle Road and the motorcyclist, said to be an 18-Year-Old Warwick man, was riding along Middle Road in the opposite direction when the collision occurred as the car driver made a right turn onto Khyber Pass and the motorcyclist attempted to overtake another vehicle traveling in the westbound lane.

“The teen rider is believed to have sustained a fractured jaw and was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“At last check earlier this morning [Wednesday, November 13th] he remained in hospital receiving medical care

“The car driver was not hurt.

“Traffic was diverted over Longford Road and St. Mary’s Road while the scene was processed.

“Inquiries continue and any members of the public that witnessed this collision but have not already come forward are now encouraged to call Constable Kirsteen Brown on the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
