Football: FA Challenge Cup First Round Results

The Devonshire Colts, St. George’s Colts, PHC Zebras, Somerset Trojans, North Village Rams, Robin Hood, and X’Roads all recorded victories in the first round of the FA Challenge Cup.

Devonshire Colts 3 – Flanagan’s Onions 0

At the Devonshire Rec, the Devonshire Colts defeated the Flanagan’s Onions for the third time in 19 days to advance. The Colts got two goals from Diego Richardson and a single strike from Reese Jones in their 3 – 0 win.

Vasco 0 – St. George’s Colts 4

At Bernards Park, the St. George’s Colts advanced to the next round following their 4 – 0 win over Vasco. The St. George’s Colts got single strikes from Kenton Ottley, Diego McCallan, Damon Darrell and Jahron Dickinson.

PHC Zebras 3 – Boulevard Blazers 1 – After Extra Time

The PHC Zebras needed extra time to defeat the Boulevard Blazers 3 – 1 to advance. The Boulevard Blazers took the lead in the 33rd minute when Zaire Burchall found the back of the net, but an own goal one minute into the second half saw the PHC Zebras draw level.

In the ninth minute of extra time, Cecoy Robinson gave the PHC Zebras the lead; he scored his second goal of the game in the 116th minute to earn the PHC Zebras a spot in the next round.

Somerset Trojans 2 – St. David’s 1

The Somerset Trojans edged St. David’s 2 – 1 in their match at the Somerset Cricket Club. After a scoreless first half, Richard Quinn gave the Somerset Trojans the lead in the 62nd minute. Jaden Ratteray-Smith doubled the lead in the 76th minute. St. David’s did pull a goal back when Kurtin Minors scored in the 90th minute, but they ran out of time for the equalizer.

Devonshire Cougars 0 – North Village Rams 2

Two first half goals sealed the win for the North Village Rams as they defeated the Devonshire Cougars 2 – 0 at the Devonshire Rec. Jaizel Smith-Deshields gave the North Village Rams the lead in the second minute. Jason Lee doubled the lead in the 43rd minute when he converted from the penalty spot after a foul was committed.

Robin Hood 3 – Somerset Eagles 2

Robin Hood edged the Somerset Eagles 3 – 2 at the BAA Field. Robin Hood got single strikes from Tomiko Goater, Dominique Williams and Ereico Outerbridge, while Marcelos Thomas and Anwar Telford scored a goal each for the Somerset Eagles.

X’Roads 1 – Hamilton Parish 0

The one goal of this game at the Garrison Field came in the 17th minute from Donavan Thompson as X-Roads defeated Hamilton Parish 1 – 0.
