Police Witness Appeal, 70-Year-Old Man In ICU

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident which left a 70-year-old man in the ICU, with the police saying the victim was involved in an “altercation with another male who allegedly struck him in the face.”

A police spokesperson said, “At around 11:30 this morning, Wednesday 1st January, 2020, police received an emergency call that a man was seen lying on the sidewalk outside the Washington Mall on Reid Street in the city of Hamilton. He was reportedly breathing but unresponsive.

“Upon arrival officers were informed the victim, a seventy year old male, had already been conveyed to hospital by ambulance.

“He is currently listed in critical condition in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

“Further enquiries revealed the elderly victim was earlier involved in a verbal altercation with another male who allegedly struck him in the face causing him to fall to the ground.

“Police are now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect. He is described as a black male, between 6ft and 6ft 3in tall and of slim build.

“He was dressed in a white long sleeved jacket over a black hoodie, black pants, white socks and black sneakers and carrying a black backpack.

“Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the main police number, 295-0011.”

    well with all the cameras in town how hard could it be to find him? using a backpack means he is most likely a vagrant or one of the similar people who hang out in town with bags.
