Video: ‘Taking Off’ Highlights New Buildings

January 30, 2020

Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting the newly constructed buildings next to the main terminal.

Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “If you’ve driven by the site of the new airport passenger terminal building recently, you’ve likely seen a few other buildings next to the main terminal.

“And you’ve probably been wondering… what they are? Today, I’m going to shed some light on what else is on the site.

“The additional buildings are the BELCO substation, a new security building and a generator building. And the building with multiple white roofs right next to the terminal is the outdoor dining portion of The Whistling Rum Bar & Grill, one of our three restaurants with stunning views.

“These buildings play an important role in the operation of the new terminal.

“The BELCO substation will provide power to the new facility, while the generator building will house generator units ready to kick in should power go out.

“The new security building will serve as a control point for access to restricted areas.

“And finally, the outdoor portion of The Whistling Rum Bar, will be a great addition to the east end and open to the public with delicious food, fantastic drink options and a great atmosphere.”

Air planes whistle and rum because we like rum. Not that complicated.

Can you please get the dock back in place so tourists & locals can be picked up by boat? And can you sort out the customs & immigration, it is an absolute joke, perhaps streamline the process? The lines are so long and unnecessary where other airports are welcoming to guests.

They’ve missed a trick not calling it “The Rumway”
