Athletes Meet Carifta Standard, Win In Bahamas

The Bermuda National Athletics Association sent a team to the Bahamas to compete in the Bahamas Star Performers Track Meet this weekend, with the athletes claiming multiple wins and three athletes meeting the Carifta standard; Ellie Richmond in the Javelin, Sancho Smith in the 800m and Kahzi Sealey in the 1500m.

The athletes who competed and their results:

  • Daria Desmond U17 1500m [2nd] & 800m [4th]
  • Adriana Argent U17 1500m [1st] & 800m[3rd]
  • Eliie Richmond – U17 Javelin [1st]
  • Kesay Bll U17 SP [2nd] & Javelin [2nd]
  • Kisaye Bell U17 SP [1st]
  • Za’Kayza Parsons U20 100m [2nd] & 200m [5th]
  • Miniya Wainwright U20 High Jump [3rd] and Long Jump [3rd]
  • Jezhari Talbot U17 400m [8th]

Male

  • Jannis Roberts U17 Javelin [4th] & 1500m
  • Sancho Smith U17 400m [4th] & 800m [1st]
  • Amias Lightbourne U17 400m Long Jump & High Jump
  • Kahzi Sealey U17 1500m [1st]
  • Jauza Jame U17 1500m  & High Jump
  • Tommy Marshall U17 1500m [2nd]
  • Razi Garland U17 400m Discus [2nd] & Javelin [3rd]
  • Mikal Dill U20 100m & Long Jump [2nd]
  • Ryan Outerbridge U20 1500m [1st]

BNAA President Donna Raynor explained, “You will note that we took a few athletes and they competed in several events and we are looking at them as our possible multi-eventers at the Carifta Games – Minya Wainwright, Razi Garland, Jauza James and Jannis Roberts.

“We had 3 athletes that met the Carifta standard

  • Ellie Richmond in the Javelin 37.97 with the standard 36.00
  • Sancho Smith in the 800m 2.03.00 with the standard 2.03.00
  • Kahzi Sealey in the 1500m 4.21.94 with the standard 4.23.00 who has already qualified in the 3000m

“Tommy Marshall ran 1500m in 4.23.82 just off the standard, but Tommy has already qualified in the 3000m/”
