Four People In Custody, Other Arrests Planned

February 7, 2020

There are four people in custody that police believe were “involved in the shootings,” Police Commissioner Stephen Corbishley said, adding that “there are other arrests planned.”

The Commissioner’s comments follow after the spate of gun violence on Monday, which saw the police respond to four separate firearms incidents in 24 hours. According to the police, the firearm incidents on Monday included:

  • Early morning: Firearm was discharged into a house in Warwick
  • Afternoon: 26-year-old man shot multiple times on North Shore Road in Devonshire.
  • Evening: About five rounds fired through the kitchen door of a residence in Warwick as two brothers and other men gathered
  • Evening: Gun was discharged in Warwick and the man “was able to escape the shooters”

Police Commissioner Stephen Corbishley said, “Following the series of four shootings that took place earlier in the week, the Bermuda Police Service have brought together a significant number of resources to investigate this matter, but also to reassure local communities that we’re out on the streets engaging with people, gathering information, and providing them with reassurance.

“So far, we have four persons in custody that we believe are directly involved in the shootings. There are other arrests planned, which will take place over the next 24 to 48 hours.

“This is a very dynamic investigation, where new information is coming to us all the time, and we thank the public for much information that they have already provided to us.”

Its gonna take a networking of community and authorities to bring a reduction in these types of crimes. Further , some folks need to look at their self esteem and ambition , and be encouraged.
