“I Have Full Confidence In Safety Of Bermuda”

February 12, 2020

“I felt it necessary to lead by example so that all will know that the ship is not a threat to our island,” Minister of Tourism and Transport Zane DeSilva said, adding that he has ”full confidence in the safety of Bermuda.”

At 4:30am this morning, Minister DeSilva traveled to St. George’s and then on to the Anthem of the Seas’ via pilot boat, where he boarded the vessel and traveled into Dockyard where the ship is presently at berth. The ship is scheduled to depart at 3:30pm tomorrow, bound for New Jersey.

“As a show of confidence and to allay all fears in the safety of having the ship, crew, and passengers in Bermuda, I felt it necessary to lead by example so that all will know that the ship is not a threat to our island,” said Minister DeSilva. “I believe this has been accomplished and all fears have been put to rest.”

While on the ship, Minister DeSilva spent time with the captain and visited several of the restaurants, guest areas, and had the opportunity to speak with some of the guest passengers.

“From my experience, I can say that the management team and staff on the ship have gone above and beyond the norm and are doing an excellent job ensuring the crew and guests are safe,” continued Minister DeSilva, “To reiterate, I have full confidence in the safety of Bermuda.”

The round trip concluded around 9:00am at Heritage Wharf in Dockyard with Minister DeSilva being first from the ship to set foot in Bermuda. Following his return, he spoke with taxi and tour bus operators and spent time with the Bermuda Tourism Authority’s team at the Visitor Service Centre.

I’m not a fan of the present government. However I’m in Zane’s side . This who thing has been blown way out of proportion and once again we get caught up on the headline of a CNN story and do not listen to the whole story. Not one person on this ship had the virus. They thought there might possibly be a case so the quarantined everyone and tested them . Still the media (some Bermuda media included) latched onto the headline and ran with it. Nobody is at risk here. So for once Zane I applaud you even though I so not agree with you current parties choices.

People read the whole story , not just the headline and the hook.

Thank you Dr. Desilva. Your inexperience in the field of viral infection has proven instrumental in these times of need.

  6. Anti Trump supporter says:

I am not a trump fan. A Democrat here. First off MP Zane desilva is a portfolio of both transport and tourism. So no joke that by default you would think he is multi talented. As far as doctor concerned he was assured by ministry of health.
