Longbird Bridge Closed To Marine Traffic

Longbird Bridge in St. George’s will be closed to marine traffic from Friday [Feb 21] and is expected to reopen on April 16th, the Ministry said today.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works and the Department of Marine and Ports Services advises that in the interest of public safety, Longbird Bridge in St. George’s will be closed to marine traffic from Friday, February 21 and expected to reopen on Thursday, April 16. Vehicular traffic will not be impacted.

“The closure will facilitate the removal of the old Longbird Bridge structure no longer in use. Further updates will be provided as they are available.

“The Ministry encourages the public’s full cooperation and apologises in advance for any inconvenience.”

    Wait! You told us the Bailey Bridges were only temporary! What will replace Longbird Bridge?
