MAAC Juniors Win Six Medals In New York

Six MAAC Juniors recently competed in the 2020 Armory Youth Championships in New York, winning a total of six medals, including four gold and two silver.

Shayla Cann claimed two gold medals. Her first came in the 15-16 girls 800m as she clocked a time of 2:27:70. Cann then ran the 15-16 girls 400m race, picking up her second gold and meeting the Carifta qualifying time by stopping the clock in a time of 58:18; the Carifta standard for the distance is set at 58:60.

Tommy Marshall won the silver medal in the 15-16 boys 3000m run, clocking a time of 9:38:50. Marshall then came back to claim gold in the 15-16 boys 1 mile run in a personal best time of 4:49:99.

Kayla Raymond won the gold medal in the 17-18 girls 800m run, clocking a time of 2:32:03. Raymond also claimed a silver medal in the 17-18 girls 400m run by clocking a time of 59:60.

Jessie Marshall finished fifth while competing in the 17-18 girls 1 mile run with a time of 6:12:75.

Nick Pilgrim finished fifth competing in the 17-18 boys 3000m race in of 10:14:41. Liana Mederios attempted the 15-16 girls 3000m race, but unfortunately didn’t run the correct number of laps and was ruled DNF.
