Tevahn Tyrell Signs With Durham City AFC

February 19, 2020

Bermudian footballer Tevahn Tyrell has signed with Durham City AFC, with the deal subject to international clearance.

The club’s announcement said, “Powerful Bermuda international striker Tevahn Tyrell today signed for Durham City AFC, subject to international clearance.

“Tyrell, a powerful 6 foot 3 inch centre forward, is no stranger to England or the North East, having first come over as a youngster to train with Chelsea and later plied his trade in the Northern Premier leagues for Ilkeston and Mickleover. Following a successful start to the season in 2018, he moved over to Holland for an unsuccessful spell in the Dutch third division.

“After nearly one and a half seasons of very little first team action, he attended a trial at Darlington FC last summer in games against Motherwell and Middlesbrough. Tyrell was not offered a deal and was the first to admit that he wasn’t quite ready. “I hadn’t played much football over the previous 18 months and I wasn’t feeling sharp, I was low on confidence and probably trying too hard to impress.”

“Following a shoulder injury in a further trial game, Tyrell returned to Bermuda to regain his confidence and sharpness. The decision has proved to be the correct move, with Tyrell currently being one of the most dangerous strikers in the league.

“Director of Football John Woolnough had this to say about Tyrell: Tevahn is winner, his attitude is first class and he has a big point to prove. He knows he has what it takes to play at a much higher level and he’s now ready to prove that.”

“A powerful muscular 6 foot 3 inch forward, Tyrell is more than just a battering ram.

“Physically he is very impressive, he looks like a premier league footballer. He looks a different person to when he arrived at Darlington, much stronger and fitter. His physical presence can mean his quality on the ball is often overlooked, this lad can actually play with ball at his feet and he’s very quick. Everywhere he’s played he’s scored goals.”

“Tyrell will join the squad once his international clearance is through, which can take upto a month.

“This can take up to a month but I’m confident we can get this done very quickly. I’m really excited to see Tevahn in action and I’m sure the rest of the Durham City fans will be too.” said Woolnough. “This is a massive signing for us.”

“All at Durham City AFC welcome Tevahn to the club.”
