Football: Premier & First Division Results

Footballers in both the Premier Division and First Division were in action this past weekend, with the Dandy Town Hornets, North Village Rams, Southampton Rangers, Devonshire Cougars, X-Roads, Devonshire Colts, and Wolves all earning wins, while one match was not played as the host team could not field a team.

Premier Division PHC Zebras 1 – Dandy Town Hornets 3

At PHC Stadium, the Dandy Town Hornets defeated the PHC Zebras 3 – 1.

After a scoreless first half, the Dandy Town Hornets took the lead in the 46th minute through an own goal. Kwame Steede doubled the lead for the visitors when he found the back of the net in the 52nd minute, and then in the 64th minute Angelo Simmons scored for the Dandy Town hornets to make it 3 – 0. Marco Warren pulled a goal back for the PHC Zebras in the 82nd minute to make the final score 3 – 1.

Premier Division North Village Rams 2 – Somerset Eagles 1

At Bernard Park, league leaders North Village Rams defeated visiting Somerset Eagles 2 – 1. The North Village Rams took the lead as early as the second minute when Jaizel Smith-DeShields scored from close range.

In the 60th minute, Troy Tucker doubled the North Village Rams lead. Teniko Eve pulled a goal back for the Somerset Eagles, but they could not find the equalizer.

Premier Division Somerset Trojans 0 – Southampton Rangers 1 – Match Abandoned

At Somerset Cricket Club, the Southampton Rangers held a 1 – 0 lead when referee Tashun Simons was forced to abandon the match between the Somerset Trojans and the Southampton Rangers. After a scoreless first half, the Southampton Rangers were awarded a penalty; players from the Southampton Rangers argued over who would take the kick, which eventually was converted by Kamali Davis in the 65th minute, but two minutes later, players from the Southampton Rangers began fighting each other, leaving the referee with little option other than abandoning the match.

Premier Division Devonshire Cougars 3 – Robin Hood 1

At the Devonshire Rec, the Devonshire Cougars defeated Robin Hood 3 – 1. Calin Maybury gave Devonshire the lead in the 23rd minute. Allan Douglas doubled the lead in the 35th minute. Lejuan Simmons pulled a goal back for Robin Hood in the 58th minute, but Douglas ended the match as a contest when he found the back of the net for the second time in stoppage time.

Premier Division X-Roads 10 – Boulevard Blazers 1

At Garrison Field, X-Roads defeated the Boulevard Blazers 10 – 1. Donavan Thompson led the way with four goals, while Kahmori Brangman and Tyrell Burgess both scored twice. Jamin Furbert and Paul Simons scored a goal each. Khiry Easton scored the lone goal for the Boulevard Blazers.

First Division St. George’s Colts 1 – Devonshire Colts 3

The two promoted teams went head to head at Wellington Oval with the title decider between the St. George’s Colts and the Devonshire Colts.

The Devonshire Colts have put themselves in the running for the league and cup double following their 3-1 win.

After a scoreless first half, the Devonshire Colts got single strikes from Richard Jones, Diego Richardson, and Senoj Mitchell, while the St. George’s Colts got a strike from Macai Simmons.

First Division Vasco 2 – Wolves 5

At Bernard Park, the Wolves defeated Vasco 5 – 2. The Wolves got two goals from Jared Peniston and Tyree Robinson, while goalkeeper Jerome Usher utilized the strong wind scored from his box. Fabio Maderios and Ayrton Ban Duyne scored a goal each for Vasco.

First Division Ireland Rangers 0 – St. David’s 0

This match at Malabar was not played as the host Ireland Rangers could not field a team against St. David’s.
