Video: New Airport Self Check-In Kiosks

March 6, 2020

Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting the self-check-in kiosks.

Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “In the new passenger terminal building, check-in will look a little bit different.

“Now, when you come to the LF Wade International Airport, you can self-check-in via kiosks dedicated to specific airlines.

“In the new terminal, passengers will be able to walk up and use any kiosk to check-in for any airline.

“The common use of kiosks will be able to print both boarding passes and tags for your luggage.

“Once the bag tags and boarding passes are printed and the tags attached to your luggage; you can then drop your bags off at the luggage counters. This will expedite your check-in process.

“Of course, passengers will still be able to use their computers and mobile devices to check-in before arriving at the airport.

“And one of the biggest changes will see US-bound passengers drop their bags before going through US Customs and Border Protection.

“That means no more hauling your checked luggage in line for pre-clearance before heading to the US.

“Next time, I’ll give you a sneak peek of the departure lounges.”

We like keeping people employed so we will always check in with humans and not machines. Besides, for what we pay for tickets, why do we have to do the work to check in? Next the airline will have passengers serving drinks and food.

Is it possible to have self check scanners when arriving in Bermuda? The immigration line takes way too long. Many airports have these contactless immigration scanners. Heck I would pay a premium to get a fast track line when returning to the island.
