Happy Bird Company Offers Bluebird Boxes
The Happy Bird Company is selling its bluebird nesting boxes for the second year, led by company founder Christian Chin-Gurret.
A spokesperson said, “Spring is definitely in the air with the lovely sounds of bird chirping all over the island. Many birds are starting their nests and that includes the native bluebirds [Sialia sialis].
“Between March to August, they usually pair up for breeding. The males birds particularly have vivid blue plumage. Blue birds have lost much of their natural nesting sites due to development and rely mostly on man-made bluebird boxes for nesting.
“The Happy Bird Company – which was started two years ago by Christian Chin-Gurret, a Masters student at Warwick University studying Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Management – is in its second year and sells bluebird boxes.
“The unique flat pack box is easily assembled without glue or nails in five minutes and can be a great painting project or just left naturally as it is made of marine plywood. It is also a great learning project for both children and adults and is furthermore a fun project for home schooling.
“Over 100 boxes have already been sold and the company sold out two weeks ago. Orders are being taken now for the next batch.”
Mr. Chin-Gurret said, “As I am now finishing Masters studies in Bermuda online, I thought I could also focus on my flat pack bird box. Before the quarantine I did a few deliveries, however now I am now taking orders.
“Presently my own blue bird box in my yard has a nest that has been completed over the last four days and I am expecting eggs to be laid any day now.”
The spokesperson said, “To order a box, please visit the Happy Bird Company’s Facebook page and reserve your bluebird box, or for inquiries call 295-4597. The boxes cost $50 each.”

Do they include furnishings?

Really?! Shame on you!
Being a bit of a curmudgeon, I initially thought the price was high too but after considering you need to source the lumber, nails and the proper size hole saw then find your saw, hammer and drill, battery is probably dead, so 4 hours and a few curse words later and you have built your own, costing you a lot more than $50 in just time. This young mans design is well thought out and he was industrious enough to bring it to fruition.
