IAC To Launch Covid-19 Response Webinars

April 22, 2020

IAC will be launching a series of webinars to “support human service providers and non-profits in adapting and responding to evolving conditions” resulting from the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic on April 28.

A spokesperson said, “On April 28, IAC will be launching the first of five webinars to support human service providers and non-profits in adapting and responding to evolving conditions resulting from COVID 19.

“This is a free series offered to human service providers and non-profits. Webinars will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays between April 28th and May 14th, starting at 1.00pm. Registration is open to the public and available at iacbermuda.org.

“IAC provides professional development and training opportunities to strengthen Bermuda’s human services. At the onset of the pandemic, IAC postponed its traditional, course-room style training and subsequently surveyed members and key stakeholders on critical training needs resulting from the pandemic.

“This upcoming series responds to these emerging needs. The first event, ‘Moving to An Online Service,’ takes place on April 28th and includes representatives from Family Centre, Solstice, Bermuda Zoological Society, and the Menuhin Foundation to discuss successes and challenges in transitioning to online and tele-services.

“On April 30th, the Bermuda Red Cross will facilitate ‘How Are You Doing? Responding to Crisis and Grief from a Psycho-Social First Aid Perspective.’ On May 5th, Latisha Lister from EAP will facilitate ‘Supporting Staff during a Crisis: What Managers Can Do.’

“On May 7th, Keisha Allen Smith of Target Learning will facilitate ‘Stress, Secondary Trauma and Self-Care for Helping Professionals.’ The final webinar, ‘Responding to Crisis: Pivoting to Stay Relevant,’ is aimed specifically at non-profits and will include four speakers: Sean Reel from Ignite, Danielle Riviere from OD Solutions, Kristin White from Long Story Short, and Jennifer Adams from Wavecrest Consulting.”

IAC Programme Coordinator Nicola Paugh said, “This is a challenging time for all of us, and IAC hopes these webinars can provide practical tips and inspire thinking around how we, as caring professionals, can adapt, cope and respond to the pandemic and continue to sustainably meet the needs of our clients and the community.”

The spokesperson said, “IAC is a membership organization of social and human service providers that exists to strengthen the capacity of agencies to respond to the changing needs of Bermuda’s children and families.

“IAC helps Bermuda’s human service agencies to enhance their service provision through training, advocacy and collaboration.
