Arrest For Curfew Breach, Suspected Possession

April 20, 2020

A man who initially failed to stop for police was arrested for breaching the Shelter in Place regulations and suspicion of possession of a controlled drug.

A police spokesperson said, “At approximately 11:00pm on Friday 17th, April, police officers on uniform mobile patrol were travelling west on St John’s Road, Pembroke when they observed a motorcycle travelling west ahead of them.

“The driver failed to stop when instructed and instead turned east onto Inland Lane, drove through the yard of a private residence and abandoned the cycle before running off.

“Police pursued the suspect on to Moore’s Lane, and he was subsequently apprehended. The officers had cause to deploy captor during the apprehension.

“The suspect did not give a lawful excuse for breaching the Shelter in Place [Covid-19] Regulations, and was arrested.

“Officers searched the area through which the suspect attempted to escape and found a small plastic re-sealable bag containing what is believed to be a quantity of the controlled drug- cannabis resin.

“He was further arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and was transported to Hamilton Police Station, where he received after care for captor deployment before being processed for detention.”

We need to relax, people do not need to be imprisoned in times like this.
