BTA To Host Speed Networking Event On Oct 24

October 11, 2019

Entrepreneurs, investors and other tourism industry stakeholders are invited to a “speed-networking” evening later this month hosted by Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] and sponsored by BTAConnect.

The initiative is aimed at raising public awareness around entrepreneurial tourism ventures and assisting Bermudians with potentially viable hospitality business ideas to help get them off the ground.

“The tremendous growth of innovative new ventures we’ve seen launched by home-grown entrepreneurs recently has helped meet visitors’ desires and increase local excitement around creative grassroots businesses,” said Glenn Jones, the BTA’s Chief Experience Development Officer.

“Yet, with all start-ups come obstacles—overcoming inexperience and dealing with red tape, for example, are huge challenges for those who are new to the industry. The BTA can play an important role, connecting entrepreneurs with decision makers to help them navigate those obstacles and ultimately realise their vision.”

“Speed-Networking for Tourism Partners” will take place 5:30–7:30 pm in the Princess Victoria Room at Hamilton Princess & Beach Club. Attendees will get a clear understanding of what partners require to approve investment requests.

They will also learn how to align proposed events or experiences with the National Tourism Plan, and increase their digital marketing presence using Google My Business and BTAConnect—the authority’s custom platform allowing tourism stakeholders to access statistics and other relevant industry information and promote their own events and businesses.

Entrepreneurs will be matched with key decision-makers who can guide them through idea-planning or steps to executing a plan. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance to take advantage of the evening’s one-on-one meetings, scheduled in a “speed-networking” format to maximise connections.

Deadline for registration is Tuesday, October 15—when interested entrepreneurs can also sign up at that day’s Bermuda Tourism Summit at Fairmont Southampton. To sign up for Speed-Networking for Tourism Partners, go here.
