Paula Lawter Flood
Paula Lawter Flood [nee Stuart] of South Boston, Virginia, U.S. passed away on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the age of 84.
She was born in Bermuda on Nov. 17, 1931 to the late Charles Stuart and late Eva Porteous Stuart. She was preceded in death by husbands Clarence Doug Lawter of South Boston,Va., Alden Flood of Bermuda, plus daughter Pamela Pleasants, granddaughter Lori Pleasants, and two brothers, Dennis and Keith Stuart of Bermuda.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Lifelong friend Joan K Aspinall gave the tribute to Paula, her Bermudian roots, and the compassion and love she extended to her fellow man, earning her the tile of Beautiful Bermudian Pixie.
Well known by so many in Bermuda, she will be remembered by staff members of the Princess Hotel where she worked for many years in the gift shop, as well as her work associates at the Swizzle Inn.
She leaves behind in Bermuda, sister-in-law Edith Stuart and family, cousin Audrey Jeffreys, and immediate family in England, first cousins Molly Pagan and Eileen Hill. Close friends in Bermuda include Faye Leseur, Diane Hayward, Claire Rushe,Carol Sims, Cindy Correira [maiden name] Alan Todd, Kenny Wheatley, and countless generations of people stretching back to her childhood that Paula encompassed with her smile and friendliness.
